Last week was a good one for internet freedom as the collective voice of the internet and all those that cherish internet freedom managed to, at least for now, derail the evil twin so called anti-piracy bills known by their acronyms SOPA and PIPA; while this battle has been won that in no way means that we have won the war. The proponents of these bills, which are mainly Hollywood entertainment conglomerates and their cohorts, have very deep pockets and will undoubtedly make another go of it at some point during the next year or two. Therefore it is of the utmost importance that the web community doesn’t let its collective guard down and allow these bills to be repackaged and renamed in some sly effort to sneak this stuff through while our attention is elsewhere.
